Surprising causes of skin aging

SURPRISING CAUSES OF SKIN AGING

As we become older, our skin is exposed to a variety of factors, including the sun, severe weather, and unhealthy habits. We can, however, take precautions to keep our skin supple and youthful-looking.

Your skin's aging process is influenced by a number of variables, including your lifestyle, nutrition, heredity, and other personal habits. Smoking, for example, can cause free radicals, which are once-healthy oxygen molecules that have become hyperactive and unstable. Free radicals harm cells, causing premature wrinkles among other things.

There are other factors as well. Normal aging, sun exposure (photoaging), pollution, and loss of subcutaneous support are all major contributors to wrinkled, spotty skin (fatty tissue between your skin and muscle). Stress, gravity, everyday face movement, obesity, and even sleep posture are all factors that contribute to skin aging.

What Kinds of Skin Changes Do You Get As You Get Older?

As we become older, we go through changes like these:

1. The surface of the skin gets rougher.

2. Skin lesions, such as benign tumors start to form.

3. The skin gets saggy. The lack of elastic tissue (elastin) in the skin causes it to hang loosely as it ages.

4. The skin appears to be more translucent. The epidermis is thinning, which causes this (surface layer of the skin).

5. The skin becomes more delicate. A flattening of the region where the epidermis and dermis (the layer of skin underneath the epidermis) meet causes this.

6. The skin becomes more prone to bruises. This is because the blood vessel walls are thinner.

As we become older, we notice changes beneath the skin as well. They are as follows:

1. Fat loss beneath the skin in the cheekbones, temples, chin, nose, and eye region can cause a thinner appearance, looser skin, sunken eyes, and a "skeleton" aspect.

2. After the age of 60, bone loss, particularly around the mouth and chin, can cause puckering of the skin around the mouth.

3. The loss of cartilage in the nose causes the nasal tip to drop and the bone structures in the nose to be highlighted.

Did you realize that your obsession with your smartphone, your urban lifestyle, and even your sweet indulgences may be contributing to your wrinkles and other signs of aging? Here are five unexpected causes of aging, as well as ways to avoid them.

  1. Sugar-

The Cause:

If you consume too much sugar, you are more than likely to get wrinkles. What causes this to happen? When you consume sugar, it enters your circulation and attaches to a protein, resulting in Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs). Collagen is damaged by AGEs, and the skin's integrity is weakened, resulting in drooping tissue and wrinkles.

The Solution:

Refined sugar, which is present in most processed meals, is a no-no and should be taken in moderation, but high-glycemic fruits like strawberries, melons, bananas, and white breads and pastas should also be avoided. Instead, receive your daily nutrients from low-glycemic foods like apples, blueberries, cranberries, and whole grain breads and pastas. Enhance your skin care regimen by adding creams and serums that feature potent components like sophisticated stem cell technology and retinol to counteract the effects of sugar on collagen levels.

  1. Smog-

The Cause:

Skin aging is frequently caused by air pollution. Smog chemicals, in fact, produce reactive oxygen species and free radicals similar to those produced by sunshine (the usual aging culprit). These industrial particles impair your skin's shine and can cause dark spots and wrinkles when they settle in.

The Solution:

The first step in combating the wrinkling effects of pollution particles is to cleanse your skin as soon as you reach home. The second step is to use an antioxidant-rich skin lotion every morning to boost your skin.

  1. Sleeping Position-

The cause:

Sleeping on your side or stomach with your face pressed against a cotton pillowcase puts more pressure on your skin. Collagen breakdown and wrinkles can occur as a result of this continual strain.

The Solution:

Use a night lotion every night (especially better if it contains retinol to boost collagen formation) and switch up your sleeping positions. Swap your cotton pillowcase with a silk or satin one if you can't adjust your sleeping habits.

  1. Tech neck-

  2. The Cause:

The tech neck is on the rise, and it's not a good thing. Skin laxity and wrinkling at the neckline are a serious concern after gazing down at your laptop and smartphone all day, especially because the skin around the neck is thinner.

    The Solution:

The best way to avoid tech neck is to avoid it in the first place. While surgical cosmetic enhancements and firming lotions are possibilities, the easiest strategy to protect the skin on your neck from sagging and wrinkling is to hold your smartphone or place your laptop at a higher level (so you're not continually gazing down).

  3. Stress-

  4. The Cause:

Cortisol levels rise when you're stressed or nervous, and this is the cause of stress. This hormone induces inflammation and has a detrimental impact on the tissues that help the skin keep its suppleness and tightness over time.

    The Solution:

Schedule time to unwind and relax. Schedule a regular yoga class, practice meditation, or simply conclude your day with a peaceful hour to read a book or sip herbal tea. Better still, incorporate a firming face mask into your relaxation practice to significantly reduce tension and wrinkles.

    If Everything Else Fails...

Consider a non-surgical, radio frequency-based wrinkle reduction treatment to help reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. This treatment works by administering consistent heat beneath the skin's surface to increase collagen formation and elastin fibers. After only a few short, painless treatments with minimal downtime, the outcome is visibly smoother skin.
