Fungal infection, or commonly known as ringworm or Tinea infection is a very common infection in India, due to the tropical climate here. It can infect anyone, from adults, elderly to babies. Depending on the site of infection, fungal infection presents in various forms.
It can present as round, itchy lesions on body, especially sweaty areas, like underarms and groin, but can also affect other body parts.When involving the nails, it usually affects hands and feet also, and presents with fragile, thick, rough nails, with debris deposition below the nails. It can also affect the scalp, where it mainly affects the children, and presents with localised hairloss, flaking and black dots on the area.

The symptoms of fungal infections can vary from person to person, but the most common symptoms include:
- Itching
- Round, flaky, red to brown lesions
- Yellow-brown nail discolouration
- Thick nails, brittle, fragile, yellowish deposits beneath nail
- Localised hairloss, with black dots, grey dots and scaling in the area
